LUCUMA
It is a native fruit of the Andean valleys, with a certain resemblance between mango and avocado. It is sometimes used for cooking because it provides a great sweet fruity flavor that I personally love, it adds texture and creaminess. Although it tastes sweet, it has a low glycemic index and it is very low on sugars. Among its many benefits, it helps to slow down skin aging and joint inflammation, helps muscle recovery, and balances blood sugar levels.

It is a tuber that has been cultivated for centuries in the Andean mountains and is known by the name of Peruvian Ginseng since its properties increase physical and mental resistance. Some studies show that it is beneficial for migraines, fertility and libido. I use the Maca powder to add creaminess to cakes.

It is an ancient dark green algae that grows in warm waters with high sun exposure. Studies show that genetically there are two types of spirulina: the one from Chad in Africa and the one from Mexico in Central America. It is said that the Aztecs already consumed this algae in cakes that they dried in the sun, since it gave them a lot of energy.

It is an original root from India that, when transformed into a powder, is used as a food coloring. Due to its yellow color it can be used as a substitute for saffron. It is highly known for its medicinal properties and a good ally in diseases such as diabetes, gastric ulcers, or osteoarthritis, among many others.

Highly recommended in weight loss diets, since it is very low in fat and provides a great satiating effect.
